Promoting Business Integrity in the Healthcare Sector in Vietnam

The past few years have witnessed huge development in ASEAN countries in adopting international legislation on anti-corruption and embracing business integrity. As part of their deep commitment to building integrity into all aspects of management and operations, Chandler Foundation, Clermont Group, Hoàn Mỹ Corporation (HMC) and IBLF Global have initiated a phased programme to promote business integrity in the healthcare sector, initially in Vietnam. 

This project - Promoting Business Integrity in the Healthcare Sector in Vietnam, is structured in three parts. Its overall goal is to support the development of a culture of integrity in Vietnam's healthcare sector by promoting good practices throughout HMC’s supply chain ecosystem in Vietnam.

Presentation and discussion of Part 1 report

Part 1 focused on an internal review and assessment of HMC’s business integrity capabilities and capacity, its policies and practices. IBLF Global conducted a survey of 74% of employees from 3 of the 15 hospitals in the group, and interviewed 23 senior managers from the hospitals and the corporate headquarters. We found a strong commitment of the leadership to business integrity, a widespread understanding of corporate values amongst employees, and good communications throughout the hospitals.

This project went to a phased culmination in May with a presentation of our assessment of business integrity at HMC. In the report and during the presentation, we made a number of recommendations on areas for further development and initiated a lively discussion about how HMC could continue to embrace innovative approaches within the group, while contributing to the promotion of business integrity in the wider healthcare system in Vietnam - the focus of the next part of the project.
