IBLF Global delivers a speech at the International Anti Bribery Summit

November 12, 2020

Mr Brook Horowitz was very pleased to speak this week, via video link, at Frankfurt Messe's Second International Anti-Bribery Summit in Beijing.

He shared some ideas of the major changes afoot in business which will shape and impact the role of compliance, and other functions that are in any way responsible for upholding the behaviour and reputation of the company.

Converging risks like corruption, human rights and modern slavery, increase in international enforcement cooperation, new threats such as cybercrime, technological advances in forensic data analytics, and stakeholder capitalism - these all change the role of the compliance function, both inside the company and in the company's relations with its external stakeholders.

Brook's conclusion: "As capitalism redefines itself post-pandemic, the compliance function will redefine itself too. From being a technical support function, it will develop into a new form of corporate and social activism, promoting pro-active ethics and integrity within the company, its markets and society, and transforming the way business is done in the years to come."
