IBLF Attends Workshop Organised by the Government Inspectorate of Vietnam

July 15, 2020

IBLF Global was represented by Mr Brook Horowitz at a workshop organised by the Government Inspectorate of Vietnam (GIV). He represented a report on how governments provide anti-corruption guidance to the private sector.

Brook's participation was as a member of a consultancy team brought together by UNDP Vietnam to assist GIV in the preparation of guidance for the Revised Anti-Corruption Law and Decree which came into force last year. This consultancy is part of the Promoting Fair Business in ASEAN project funded by the UK Prosperity Fund.

The report, which will be published soon, covers the guidance issued by 7 countries - US, UK, France, Argentina, Brazil, Thailand, South Korea. Despite different legal systems, there was a strong correlation between them.

There's much work left to do but we are pleased with the interest, the international experience and the commitment of the Vietnamese authorities to bridging the gap between the aspirations of the new legislation and the reality on the ground.

It is gratifying that the Government-Business Integrity Initiative launched with GIV and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce a couple of years ago is beginning to bear fruit.
