IBLF Global attends a UK-Vietnam business event

09 November 2023

Brook Horowitz, CEO of IBLF Global, attended a UK-Vietnam business event at the West London Chambers of Commerce. The Vietnam delegation, comprising business leaders from Hải Dương Province in north Vietnam, was led by Nguyễn Quang Vinh, Vice President of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (pictured below). Vietnam's Ambassador to the UK, Long Nguyen Hoang, was in attendance and spoke eloquently about the opportunities for UK-Vietnam business. Thanks to Alan Rides MIEx (Grad), his team and the members at WLCC for hosting the event.

During the event, Brook was invited to share his experience of working in Vietnam.

In the short time, Brook has been involved with Vietnam since 2015, there has been so much change - not only in the physical infrastructure, but also in the business environment. For example, Vietnam is embracing the sustainability and responsible business agenda, thanks in large part to Mr Vinh and his team in VCCI who have been leading this effort for years.

This trend is set to continue. Today, UK-Vietnam trade still reflects Vietnam’s status as a source of cheap labour: Vietnam’s manufactured goods such as textiles, footwear, furniture continue to dominate its exports. But the future holds a different promise: as the example of Hải Dương shows, new business parks and technology hubs are sprouting up. As the UK scales up its investments in AI, Vietnam, with its large population of highly educated, tech-savvy young people, is the perfect counterpart. This is surely the big opportunity for both countries.

Finally, Brook expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to work with Vietnamese people - who are always warm, friendly, and always smiling.
