IBLF Global announces the transition of chairmanship

04 August 2021

The Trustees of IBLF Global are pleased to announce the appointment of Phil Mason OBE as Chairman of IBLF Global.

He takes over from Dr Jan Dauman, who will remain on the Board as co-founder and Vice Chairman. Jan has dedicated most of his professional life to promoting corporate responsibility, in his international consulting practice and from being a Trustee of the International Business Leaders Forum to engineering the spin-off of IBLF Global from that organisation in 2013. Under his leadership, IBLF Global has  developed and coordinated collective action projects and worked with governments and companies on business integrity in emerging markets, including Russia, Turkey, Central Asia, Vietnam and other countries of Southeast Asia. We thank Jan for his years of service and look forward to his continued contribution to our work.

Phil Mason OBE is one of the world’s pre-eminent anti-corruption leaders and experts. He started and developed the first anti-corruption efforts of the UK’s Department for International Development, working across government on issues such as anti-bribery legislation, practices of British companies abroad, anti-money laundering and asset recovery. He helped negotiate the UN Convention Against Corruption, headed DFID’s Overseas Territories Department, and founded the UK Government’s Business Integrity Initiative, before retiring from government service in 2019.

Jan Dauman comment:

The past 3 years have seen a sharp acceleration in the appreciation by most major private and public sector institutions of their collective responsibility to take serious, sustained action to ensure ESG principles are implemented, and the UN SDGs are achieved. However, progress in many countries continues to be constantly thwarted by poor governance and the cancer of corruption. In anti-corruption what is too often missing is the translation of statements of intent into action on the ground. This has been IBLF Global’s main focus from the start and we now have a solid platform of practical experience that is ready for scaling to a new level.  Therefore, I am delighted that Phil Mason, with his immense experience, has agreed to take on the leadership of this task and look forward very much to working closely with him. I should also like to offer my sincere thanks to our operating executives, Brook Horowitz and Boris Tkachenko, for their dedication and hard work, often through difficult times, and to my fellow Directors for their advice and support.
