EY: Managing Bribery & Corruption Risks - Real Estate, Construction & Infrastructure Industry

July 4, 2017

EY has just come out with a second edition of "Managing bribery and corruption risks - the real estate, construction and infrastructure industry". This short publication, part of an occasional series on corruption in specific industries, updates the first edition of 2012 with new data from EY's annual Fraud Survey and other sources.

It points to new risks especially around the increasing sophistication of criminals (for example cybercrime), and at the same time stronger enforcement by, and greater cooperation between, national law enforcement authorities. It shows that construction, real estate and infrastructure companies are aware of the challenges and are equipped to deal with fraud and corruption in their industry, but there are still a number of gaps. The publications suggests mitigating corruption and fraud risks by paying attention to training of employees and third parties, forensic data.
